Shallow Water Charters

Warm and breezy best describe fishing last week as small craft advisories kept me off the water.  I did manage a couple of short trips when the wind let up enough to safely fish.  Both trips were fished in less than ideal conditions.  Constant wave action created by the strong winds dropped visibility on the flats to zero.  Sight fishing for Redfish was not a viable option.  I did manage to catch an inshore slam by blind casting a lead head jig and GULP Shrimp combination to fishy looking spots.  All fish were caught in 6 to 10 feet of water on the incoming tide (water clarity improved as the tide came in).  Given the conditions, I would have been happy just getting a bite.  Catching an inshore slam was a complete surprise.   It just goes to show that fishing is pretty good right now.  Hopefully, April will bring less wind and more days on the water!
